I never got a copy of Dad's home movies, because I was so young, so I borrowed Robyn's DVDs to make a copy. I watched them on fast forward and tried to mark important timestamps for Emily. I did it fast, so it's far from perfect. Click the .PDF to view or print my timestamps. Click the .ODS if you want to download the original, editable spreadsheet.
Timestamps PDFThere were four DVDs labelled 1a,1b,2a,2b. I'm assuming they were transferred from two VHS tapes. VHS tapes have 240 lines of quality. It was transferred to 720x480 DVD video years ago. Modern HD is 1080 lines or higher. That means there is a lot of lost quality. The only way to fix that would be to reimage the original film reels.
I've converted the actual videos into three formats. Choose which one you want.
If you want the smallest all-in-one compressed videos just to watch or transfer more quickly with low bandwidth, use these links. Each file is less than 1 GB. About 3GB total.
Tape 1A.MP4If you want the original videos as found on the DVDs, download these files. Each file is about 1.1 GB, or about 18GB total.
Tape 1A_1.VOBIf you want burn your own copy on four blank DVDs, click to download theses ISO files. It's about 18GB total. Once downloaded, on a Windows computer right click the downloaded ISO file and select "Burn Disc Image."
